You're spot on Elena. Though I am new to the world of running a business, I am definitely seeing through experience the importance of each of your 5 key lessons. In fact, even though we are in a bad economy, even though I've no business experience, and even though...the list goes on, I am taking a shot at starting my own business. I know I will make mistakes, but I've resolved that it's OK. What's the worse that can happen? It doesn't work...I'll just try again. I've found my passion and I love meeting new people.

Cheers

So true on all 5 counts. Passion is important (pragmatism too). Being an entrepreneur is like motherhood in so many ways. You learn as you go, an until you experience it firsthand, you don't know what you don't know. There is no "how to" manual that will ensure easy growth or prevent mistakes from happening. Things are always changing on you, and you often have to repeat yourself to get things out the door. There are bumps along the road, and not everyone will think you're driving on the right side all the time. So you have to develop a thick skin, be willing to get your hands dirty, believe in yourself, and surround yourself with a great network of people. Thanks for this post!
