Tech Biz Scoop Always with Sharp Wit and Commentary
Our #FollowFriday worthy recommendation this week is Matt Rosoff, Business Insider’s Silicon Alley Insider (SAI) West Coast Editor.
On any given day, you will see more than a couple of posts from Matt discussing relevant happenings in the tech world. He never fails to deliver the skinny on what’s going on among the tech giants of the valley each day.
Matt’s story-telling style is simple and straightforward – in plain, non-pretentious English but note, NEVER boring because he will always deliver it to you in thought-provoking style that will bring some kind of enlightenment or further fodder.
The witty layer he adds to his news makes it so interesting to read and hands down, you will certainly get an interesting scoop on the matter.
One of my most recent favorites was when Matt posted “SURPRISE! The Next 10 Crazy Tech News Stories We Just Might See” after a busy week of high tech news hoopla. Matt’s years covering the high tech sector becomes apparent here, obviously understanding the dynamics of technology business. Yes, the possible new headlines he listed in this article may be crazy, but it will make you think twice and constantly keep you just wanting more from him.
Before Matt joined Silicon Alley Insider, he was an analyst for Directions on Microsoft for 10 years. (That’s probably why he can really see painful points sometimes!) Prior to that, he was a founding editor at CNET.com from 1995 through 2000.
Matt shared his personal blog, MattyDread, but confesses that he does not update it regularly. However, he contends that there are good historical posts on music, technology and business.
We’ve discovered that Matt is a cool bass guitar musician at heart.
Getting to Know Matt
Here are a few other things he shared with us:
Laughs at: The fake “shreds” guitar solos on YouTube featuring Joe Satriani, Eric Clapton and other guitarists overdubbed with terrible playing.
Hopes: Robert Plant agrees to get Led Zeppelin back together and they kick off with a show at the Fillmore and I get a ticket.
Thinks: There’s nothing new under the sun.
Reveals: I often eat my kids’ leftovers as I’m cleaning the kitchen.
Dream Coffee Date: Dick Cheney, Roger Waters, and Bill Gates. Just to see what would happen.
Is Inspired By: Ruthless tech CEOs.
If you enjoy reading technology business news with sharp wit and commentary, make sure to keep Matt in your radar at all times.
