PR Opportunity: Want to Be on a New TV Show?

By Elena

Group of journalists with photo and video came...

Entrepreneurs and PR peeps:

Do you have a cool new product or hot gadget you want to get some publicity for?

Are you an expert with an opinion on something controversial or are part of a trend?

Want to pitch story ideas and leads related to pop culture, celebrities, entertainment or lifestyles?

If so, leave the details in a comment below so my friend and reporter for a new daily one hour talk show in the San Francisco Bay area can hear about it.

She’s asked me to help spread the word.

The new talk show, launching in a month or two will engage viewers in real time candid conversations about the people and things making news. Social networking, pop culture, entertainment, tech news and politics all moderated by a host along with on air contributors. They will be using Twitter, Facebook, Skype, texting and a studio audience.

That’s the show in a nutshell. They are looking for topics that’ll get people talking – so it doesn’t have to be Bay Area specific.

Make sure you leave your contact info (website and email) so she can contact you directly if your story is chosen. I’ll let you know the name of the show as soon as I’m given the green light! If you know anyone who may want to get PR and be on TV in a major city, tell them to stop by here!

October 2010 Update:
The show has launched! Thanks everyone for leaving your pitches! Here’s what my reporter friend Lizzie Bermudez has to say about it:

The new show is called “7Live” on ABC-7 in San Francisco. It’s replaces the womens lifestyle talk show “The View From the Bay.” The new show is a totally different format and concept. It’s part “Hot Topics” (like on The View) and part CNN’s “Rick’s List” (which is an interactive news show incorporating social media).

The show will have a main host and I will do Pop Culture segments and another gal will do Tech segments. We’re interested in doing quick stories about things that get people talking – things that are trending. It’s a topical show that tackles the news of the day. For example, today I did the following stories…. the Washington State school district that wants to do checks of students cell phones, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo cast, a new poll that 20% of adults in relationships have the hots for someone else, True Blood cast on the cover of Rolling Stone, etc…

We’re not really looking for “product” unless it’s a new product that we’ve never seen before. Interesting surveys and studies make for good stories too.

The first company in the US to get Fair Trade Certification for their t-shirts, is in the Bay Area! (it happened in June) MotherTongues uses their t-shirts, decorate it with words & images that celebrate cultures and languages.

Growth charts are no longer something kids will outgrow – see our hot new line of designs that last a lifetime at http://www.growthchartart.com.

Newest product is an American Flag growth chart available next week. 25% of proceeds of sales go to The Fisher House (www.fisherhouse.org), a nonprofit dedicated to serving the families of wounded veterans.

    Thank you very much Elena.

I’d love to talk about a new definition of Success for Female Entrepreneurs: Size doesn’t matter!!

We own 2 businesses, are moms and are living Pretirement! We are challenging other women entrepreneurs to build businesses that support their ideal lifestyle. We strive to use our businesses to create “Pretirement Wealth”, which includes both capital AND the time and freedom to enjoy it.

We’ve worked hard, fallen hard, and risen from the ashes to tell the story of how we went from our “dream” business with over $1m in revenue to fulfilling lifelong personal dreams while succeeding with a new business model based on a very different definition of success.

We work from another part of the world for four months of the year every year (I am planning my South Pacific trip and Shannon her “learn to surf” Costa Rica trip). Always on the same page, we have a passionate story to tell about what we did to start putting action behind our words. We will never accept hearing “I want to, but…”

After a 10 years of ‘dreaming’ I was finally able to not allow military life to hinder my progress. Now, thanks to some amazing contributors and fellow military spouses (most we met by way of Twitter), we’ll be celebrating our one year anniversary in October. Out motto is “Empowering Us…Begins With Us”.

We aim to encourage Army spouses to pursue their dreams and activate themselves, especailly while and if their spouse is deployed. He/she wears the rank, we don’t! It’s important for spouses to realize that they have a life and it doesn’t include just following their soldier from place to place without making a better quality of life for themselves.

Thanks for the unique opportunity, Elena!

Our new anti-aging skincare products are the very first on the market to address the leading cause of skin aging, mitochondrial decay. With over 18 years of research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, our breakthrough ingredient is derived from the potent Schisandra berry of traditional Chinese medicine. Because we target the leading cause of skin aging, according to the latest research in the field of gerontology, our products are able to deliver real, sustainable anti-aging results. Turning back the clock is now a reality. And with your help, Elena, we’re learning how to share our humble but exciting story with the world.

Hmmm… I have a feeling I know this friend of whom you speak. But regardless, everyone that hears about our virtual baby shower/fundraiser can’t stop talking about it! So I’m sure it’s a story that will get people talking. We just got word that St. Louis Children’s Hospital is scheduling a viewing of the the shower from their NICU unit!

Why? Because 1) it’s a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, the largest nonprofit dedicated to pregnancy and baby health. 2) It’s the first time that a TV station and 20+ mom bloggers have banded together to “co-host” an online event like this.

Check Twitter search for #momisborn. Tune in on http://www.MomIsBorn.com on August 25, 11a-1pm CST to experience the Sisterhood of Motherhood for yourself!

It’s the changing face of media and I’d love to share it with your viewers!

My name is Diane Hunter and my mission as a Mind-Body Coach is to teach the power of non-verbal communication, especially to parents raising a child with autism. My commitment comes from raising my own non-verbal son with autism for the last nine years. (www.afterautism.com/about-diane/about-ian)

Autism has reached epidemic proportions. From 2001 to 2007 the autism rate jumped almost 300% in Santa Clara County alone. More families than ever are struggling with the challenges of autism.

My business, After Autism offers workshops, one-on-one coaching, a blog and public speaking to promote the value of non-verbal communication. The most transformative program I offer is my workshop with horses where parents are led through powerful exercises to experience non-verbal techniques with horses that translate directly into their relationships at home. The next workshop is October 2nd-3rd. (www.listeningbeyondwords.com)

As humans, we are missing 90% of what’s being communicated until we learn to listen beyond words and hear what matters. When parents learn these skills it brings peace into their relationships and lessens the everyday strains of raising a child with autism.

My business is a sponsor for “Comedy For Kids” where Jenny McCarthy will headline the fundraising event on September 11th at The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. All proceeds will benefit autism research. (www.comedyforkidsf.com.)

If any of this sounds relevant for your audience please contact me.

Our product, TapToTalk, gives non-verbal kids an affordable, socially acceptable, portable, customizable communication device. These kids may have autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, apraxia, or any of a variety of conditions. We help them communicate using common devices like the Nintendo DS, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. No longer do communication devices for these kids need to cost thousands of dollars and become oversized shelfware. In one year on the market, we have users all over the world. Hundreds of schools are using TapToTalk for non-verbal special needs kids, and many, many more parents are using it for their non-verbal kids as well.

We are dedicated to giving these kids a voice!

Elena, thanks for the tip and opportunity.

Surropa.com is a one-of-a-kind store for the best of Latin-inspired street fashion, accessories, art and more, and the only retail shop in the country aggregating these products plus culture reports for trendsetting U.S. Hispanics. Thrillist hails Surropa.com for “cool Latin-inspired street wear all in one place” – items you’re not likely to find elsewhere.

Trend/lifestyle angle: Surropa’s owners could speak to the uniqueness of the store and demographic – the fastest-growing population in the U.S. Controversy: Owners can discuss why they’ve created t-shirts expressing controversial opinions about Arizona’s immigration law (something that recently caught media attention in Miami, Dallas and LA and is sure to get people talking). Surropa.com sells an array of brands for men and women and is the exclusive online retailer for Gambeta, Condorito, DIMEX and NaCo products in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, along with its own original line of clothing, SOBO Gear.

Pork Chop Kids was founded after Meaghan Resenhoeft had her first daughter, Tess. Meaghan saw a very personal need to have…a very tall sock. Legwarmers left cold toes and socks never stayed put. Leggings needed to be removed completely when it came time for a diaper change, and tights, well, no grown woman wants to be restricted and pulled, so why would baby.
Having a background in textile and clothing, along with a passion for fashion, it was important for Meaghan to have the right feel, fit and
patterns. Pork Chops combine the most positive aspects of leg and
footwear, while offering a practical and and convenient way to keep baby stylish.

Grandpa Productions is the revolutionary music, entertainment and audio production company born out of the minds of New York natives, President and Vice Presidents, Devin “Calypso” Armstrong and Leavil Armstrong. Established as a platform for motivated, hungry, young musicians to express themselves through song, Grandpa Productions is the home of alternative hip-hop.

As the first group off the Grandpa Productions label, ReKaSte is the newest alternative hip-hop trio to hit the Hampton Roads music scene. Backed by Grandpa Productions, the group uses their eclectic backgrounds to merge alternative, hip-hop, jazz, pop and R&B to form a sound that can best be described as “hip-hop-rock fusion.”

With appearances and interviews at Hot 91.1, The Hampton Roads Show, opening performances for the Fuzz Band, in addition to performances at local colleges and clubs, ReKaSte is creating a buzz in the area. The group performed for a packed house during the Hampton Roads Pop Rock Festival at Blurr in Newport News, doing so well they were asked to come back several times.
